Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe Fittings
Duplex stainless steel is called "duplex" because it has a two-phase microstructure of roughly 50% austenitic and 50% ferritic stainless steel. Duplex stainless steels have significantly better strength and ductility than regular austenitic stainless steels. It's possible to reduce the section thickness of duplex stainless steel and lead to significant cost and weight savings compared to a solution in austenitic stainless steels.
In recent years, it has found that, although austenitic steel is resistant against most corrosive media, its corrosion resistance against some special media is not as good as expected.
