HEC (Hydroxyethyl Cellulose)
This product has been discontinued and removed from our shelves.
HEC is the abbreviation of hydroxyethyl cellulose, and it is a non-ionic, water-soluble powder. Our product is primarily used to viscosify water-based completion and workover fluids. The produced oilfield fluids are clear, viscous, residue-free, and possess high yield point as well as low fragile gel strength.
Typical PropertyAppearance | Off-white free flowing powder |
Moles of substituent (MS) | 1.8-2.0 |
Solution viscosity (cp) | 4000 |
Moisture content (%) | 10.0 Max. |
PH of 1% solution | 6.0-8.5 |
Bulk density (kg/m3 ) | 450-550 |
Note: The solution viscosity is measured by Brookfield viscometer at 25°C in 1% aqueous solution. |
Funtion
1. As indicated by its name, this brine viscosifier is designed to viscoify single-salt CaCl2 brines and all monovalent-salt brines including NaCl, NaBr, KCl, KBr and NH4 Cl.
2. HEC powder can be easily formulated into corresponding solution which is a kind of shear-thinning fluid, also known as pseudoplastic fluid, thus increasing the penetration rate when high shear force is exerted, or offering remarkable suspending performance to facilitate hole cleaning process when shear force is low.
Safety and Handling
For safety considerations, personal protective equipment is highly recommended and actually it is a must. Before work, please refer to the precautions illustrated in the MSDS.
Packaging and Storage
HEC is packed in 25kg (50lb) paper sacks.
The container should be closed, and then placed at a dry, well-ventilated area that is away from heat, sparks, flames and incompatible materials. For palletizing, banding, shrink-wrapping and stacking operations, please follow safe warehousing practices.
