Taphole Drill Bit

This product has been discontinued and removed from our shelves.

The hearth of a blast furnace is designed with an iron notch or tap hole through which molten iron is drawn off periodically, usually four or five times per day. When the furnace is not casting, the tap hole is plugged with clay or mud, and usually, a pneumatic drill tool is used to drill into the clay to form an opening for the molten iron to be tapped. Furnace tapping is to drill a hole through the refractory lining of a furnace in order to extract the metal and slag. According to customers' request, various taphole drill bits and rods are available.
