Applications
Biological aerated filters (BAF) are relatively new types of sewage treatment method with large volume and hydraulic load capabilities along with high oxygen transfer rates, and good effluent qualities. The filter beds can perform the removal of BOD, suspended solids, and NH3-N, for the effective treatment of domestic sewage and easily degradable wastewater to reusable standards. This filter can be used in both secondary sewage treatments and treatments for reclaimed water.

Our biological aerated filters are designed for areas with land shortages, such as residential quarters, hotels, buildings, tourist areas, urban landscape, river purification and so on. They can also be used for water eutrophication, domestic sewage, municipal sewage, living miscellaneous drainage, food processing, brewing, chemical, pharmaceutical, printing and dyeing industries and other biochemical sewage treatment.

Design Details
The biological aerated filter utilizes microbial oxidative decomposition in biofilm attached to the reactor, the adsorption and retention of fillers and biofilm, the food chain in the course of water flow and the denitrification of micro-environment and anaerobic section in biofilm.

Features
(1) The coarse granular filler in the BAF provides a better growth environment for microorganisms. The high concentration of microorganism makes the volume load of BAF increase, reduces the volume and floor area of the pool, thus greatly reducing the cost of infrastructure.
(2) The process is simple with no need of secondary settling tank.
(3) COD removal, nitrification and denitrification can be performed in the same pool, simplifying the process.
(4) Strong impact resistance. The BAF filter is not as sensitive to the changes of organic loads, hydraulic load and temperature as filters of activated sludge method.
(5) High effluent quality.
